Training groups and chess classes 11

Learning chess in the conurbation usually means joining a club group at a culture centre. In Katowice, Hetman GKS trains juniors on three afternoons a week at two culture centres, and UKS Pałac Młodzieży has a group for six- to nine-year-old beginners at the Youth Palace and another for older players. Akademia Szachowa Gliwice teaches children at the Chatka club and online, with one-to-one lessons too.

In Chorzów the municipal sports and recreation centre opened a chess school in April 2025 for children aged six to twelve, meeting on Tuesdays in the small hall on ul. Dąbrowskiego, and the youth culture centre lists chess among its classes. Bytom’s youth culture centre, MCKiS Jaworzno, Szach Mat Zabrze and RKS Mat, which also teaches in primary schools of Ruda Śląska, run groups through the school year.
