Zabrze’s chess revolves around the district culture centre in Grzybowice, at ul. Badestinusa 60. Its calendar follows the year: Witaj Wiosno in March, Szachy z Kulturą in spring, Witaj Lato in June, the night blitz marathon in July and Pierwszy Dzień Jesieni in September, with a tournament for Independence Day in November. The city also plays Witaj Szkoło, a junior event at the end of August that closes the summer holidays.
The Szach Mat school chess club moved to ul. Niedziałkowskiego 39a for the 2026/2027 school year and keeps Friday evenings open to all comers. Its former address on ul. Wolności 416 is where the Tygryski grają w szachy rounds for small children and the summer Kreatywne Szachy workshops were played, and the first general lyceum at ul. Wolności 323 hosts Bez Ciśnienia each spring.
