About this list

Gliwice chess has a strong junior side, carried by an academy and a club. Akademia Szachowa Gliwice trains at its seat in the Chatka neighbourhood club on ul. Emilii Plater and online, and its team finished fifth in the national Extraliga in June 2026. TMS Roszada runs the national tournament for Children’s Day, which reached its twenty-fifth edition at the end of May 2026, and is named by the city as organiser of a secondary school tournament.

Both big junior events are played at primary school 12 on ul. Kopernika 63, on the Kopernik estate: the Children’s Day tournament in late May or early June and the national St Nicholas tournament for children in early December, each in several age groups. Adults have the Gliwice Chess Festival in mid-December, with opens called Orient Travel Open in 2024 and Columbus Open in 2025 and a blitz event.
