Chess in Bytom 4

Chess in Bytom is centred on Youth Culture Centre no. 1 on ul. Powstańców Warszawskich 12, whose chess section trains young players through the school year and sends them to inter-voivodeship junior championships; two of its players received city awards in October 2026. The centre also hosts its own director’s cup over a weekend in May, played in several groups and rated by FIDE.

Over four days in mid-February the city plays a tournament for central categories, where players can earn a higher Polish chess category. Younger pupils meet at the Wesoły Skoczek inter-school tournament on ul. Prusa 10, held in spring with separate groups for the youngest classes and for older primary pupils.
